Posted by luxurycatamaran sur septembre 4, 2007

Synergie Yachting offers solutions to the ownership of catamarans. They provide services such as delivery, crew placement, charter preparation and can act as consultants in all the issues related to catamaran ownership. They are also offering the Synergy Fractionnal Ownership program. After the real estate, the plane industries many of these programs are being developed in the yachting industry. They enable an owner to own part of a yacht for part of the cost and « none of the troubles » since the yacht is managed by a third party. The directors of Synergy, Phil Scott and Tom Ashwell, have a 15 years experience in sailing, building and managing catamaran. For their Fractionnal ownership program they have selected well built and valuable catamarans such as the Lagoon 57, Privilege 585 and Privilege 745 (picture below). They have also worked with VPLP design on the Synergie 88 as they write on their website « Our Synergy fleet needed a flagship and we realised that the only way to own the ultimate catamaran was to specify, design and build it in-house using major players in the industry. We want the best looking, fastest and most luxurious catamaran we can get, and being the highest level of synergy ownership, we don’t have to compromise. Nothing will be overlooked, the bespoke Synergy 88 will simply be the best. » The Synergie 88 has been designed specially to serve their Synergie Global Yacht club project. In this program a fleet of three or more catamarans will sail the world offering the clients the opportunity to sail through a range of worldwide destinations or to unite the catamarans for booking or special event.

Synergy website is great, full of beautiful pictures and provides very clear information. On the download page you will find pdf format brochure of all their services and programs.

HH 100- CATA-RINA

Posted by luxurycatamaran sur août 29, 2007

I found this 100 foot luxury catamaran being built at the ALUMARINE shipyard in France. Looking at the drawing on the ALUMARINE website I saw this catamaran was another (again) VPLP yacht design so I looked up on their website and found the same 3d’s with the same layout for a project name Cata-Rina. So I guess they are the same yacht and I hope I am not doing a mistmake. If you know more let me know. Alumarine is a shipyard with 20 years experience in building yachts and also dry docks, and working ships. In the yachting business they are famous for having built DOUCE FRANCE the largest cruising catamaran ever built so far and still a reference. Another guess : HH 100 stands for Highest Honour 100, in the ligne of HH 1 and 2 which were also VPLP designs and launched in 1991 (one of them being actually named LONESTAR, still in charter and refited in 2005). I will call the yacht CATA-RINA. This yacht is currently under construction for a private client. As it is described on VPLP yacht design website all the maneuvers are directed toward the flybridge. With her huge mast, her 400 m² sail area and VPLP design she should be a fast yacht. CATA-RINA will feature one owner and a VIP cabin with private access to the salon and cockpit. A complete hull is reserved to the crew and the Galley. The relaxing space in the salon, the cockpit, and the flybridge is huge. She will be certified MCA and Bureau Veritas. I hope we will know more about his yacht once it is launched.

SIG 45 – NOT BIG BUT FAST, DESIGNED AND LUXURIOUS

Posted by luxurycatamaran sur juin 13, 2007

Hugo Le Breton, founder of Le Breton Yachts contacted me and sent me some information about his creation the SIG 45. I thought with such a name the guy was French from Brittany where I leave. The SIG 45 being designed by VPLP with Bruno Peyron as a consultant I had no doubt this was a « Britanish project ». I was wrong. Hugo Le Breton is English/Dutch but he does speak French. Let me write about his amazing catamaran. First the SIG 45 is already a success, the first unit is sold, and deposits have been paid to reserve production slots for number 2,3 and 4. This is not a big suprise given the experts gathered around the project.

Architects :VPLP, the most famous and experienced multihulls designers in the world, if you read my blog you already know about them for their cruising catamarans but they have also designed many successfull racing multhulls.

Bruno Peyron is the technical consultant. Bruno has a very long experience of racing multihulls, he holds with the maxi-catamaran ORANGE 2 both the around the world record and the 24 hours record.

Bjorn Johanson has designed the award winning MIRAGE. He has drawn a very confortable yet minimalist interior. One hull welcomes the owner suite with a bathroom, a salon to seat six people and a generous galley. The other hull welcomes the guests or family, and the watch station. The inside living space eguals one of the 45 feet cruising monohulls. The deck of course is huge, double that a 45 feet monohull. As Hugo Le Breton says « This is not only a fast boat ». I can imagine a family or friends sailing between the Greek islands or in the BVI and why not in the Cheseapeake Bay. Often with sailing boats speed means shorter distances from one place to another but also safety to avoid bad weather forecasts. I don’t consider speed as dangerous. I am not a fan of competition but of fast sailboats yes, just for the fun of it.

The SIG 45 will be built all in carbon at the Indian Yachting shipyard in Italia. This shipyard is very famous for its work with carbon fiber. They recently launched a NAUTA 72 and has built three PRADA boats for the America’s Cup. They are also very good at teck work with few Wally Yachts on their list.

Well this is a long post, there is so much to say about the SIG 45 I recommend you to take a look at Le Breton Yachts Website : http://www.lebreton-yachts.com/.

No doubt that with such a team if I was looking for a fast catamaran to buy I would go for the SIG 45 without any hesitation and with a lot of confidence.

Mr Le Breton when SIG 80 or a SIG 100 ?

LAGO 92 – CILIAM

Posted by luxurycatamaran sur juin 11, 2007

Another stunning VPLP catamaran, the Lago 92 CILIAM was seen in Valencia attending the Americas Cup. This LAGO 92 offers an amazing exterior design. I found the picture above of CILIAM docked at the Port America’s Cup on the great website Shipspotting. This picture was taken by Manuel Hernandez. CILIAM belongs to a European business man found of sailing and was launched in 1999. She was built in full epoxy at the Salthouse Boatbuilders Shipyard in Auckland. CILIAM is not only fast, (weight has been strictly kept under control and the huge 35 m rotating mast is in carbon fiber) but also very confortable with a lot of space inside (140 m²/ 1000 sq ft). The salon is amazingly large. The interior design, by the French/Italian Anne-Monique Bonadei who also designed DOUCE FRANCE, is very clear and pure. Personnaly I really like it. Each guest cabin has a double bed which can convert to two single. I didn’t find CILIAM available for charter on the web. If any body has more information about this catamaran, please let me know.

LONE STAR – HIGHEST HONOR

Posted by luxurycatamaran sur Mai 10, 2007

Again a Van Peteghem and Lauriot-Prevot design, Lone Star is one of the 85 feet cruising catamarans Highest Honor designed by the team. I think they have designed three of them, if you have more information please let me know. Lone Star has been completely refitted in 2005 and is available for charter in the British Virgin Island. There is a crew of four with a « meilleur ouvrier de france » cook which is the highest distinction you can get as a cook in France. LONE STAR can accomodate up to twelve guest in four queens and two twins with an extra little single bed for a child. The space on the deck and the salon is huge as it is often the case on such catamarans. The interior shows art works by french internationnally reknowned Laurence Setton. The website is full of great pictures, you really wish you were onboard to enjoy the best vacations.

VAN PETEGHEM AND LAURIOT PREVOT

Posted by luxurycatamaran sur avril 26, 2007

They are the world most famous multihulls designers. I was very impressed by their website. Their design office is made up of twelve qualified architects in two offices Vannes and Paris. The team become famous by designing most of the winning racing multihulls in the World such as Pierre Premier (which became Lakota for Steve Fosset), Fleury Michon XI, the Hydropter, the Trimarans for the movie Waterworld, and lately Groupama II, for the most famous skipper from Eric Tabarly, to Frank Cammas to name but just a few…. As they say « from racing to cruisings »; they have used their racing experiences to design many of the Lagoon cruising catamarans for beneteau, and also custom projects for luxury catamaran above 100 feet. Right now Gemeni, a 145 feet catamaran is being built in aluminium. Aboard this yacht 12 guests can dine in the main dining room, in the cockpit or on the flybridge next to the jacuzzi and sunbathing area. Postprandial relaxation can take place in the main salon or the TV den. On the website you will also find the drawings for the Sailor 164 which can accomodate 12 guests and 10 crew. They have also designed Douce France (138’) the largest catamaran ever built so far. I recommend to check their website, there are many more projects and catamarans launched to discover.
